This website is to keep the memory alive of my mother, Jantje Martha Hekman, born Müller. It is dedicated to her and her family.

It was my mother who gave me the Family Tree and Coat of Arms of my father’s lineage. From her own Ancestry little was known. Once on the path of genealogy and family history I found one part of her family, the Müllers, but it was in 2020 through my cousin Hanna Senkowski, born Peters, that I discovered the family and ancestry of my mothers grandmother, Anna Focken. I learned a lot from Hanna about my family history and about the history of Eastfrisia.

I’m proud of my Eastfrisian roots. When I was young I felt embarressed by having a German grandfather. This was due to the feelings in the Netherlands about German people after World War II. But after learning about Eastfrisia and the Eastfrisians I’m proud to be part of this lineage.
